THIGH LIFT IN ESSEX COUNTY, NEW JERSEY

ALSO OFFERING THIGH LIFT FOR MORRIS & UNION COUNTIES

Do you avoid wearing shorts at all costs? Do you dislike the summer months because you feel pressure to show off your upper legs in short, skimpy clothing?

Dr. Erwin Bulan would like you to know that you are not alone. Many people wish that their thighs looked more toned and taut.

If you have sincerely tried to follow a healthy diet and exercise routine but cannot seem to lose inches from your thighs or tighten the skin on your upper legs, thigh lift plastic surgery may be a helpful solution for you.

Often, the aging process or major weight loss can leave you with loose skin that has lost its elasticity on your thighs. You may have stubborn localized fat deposits in the area as well. Do not sacrifice wearing shorts or skirts! Instead, contact board-certified plastic surgeon Dr. Bulan to find out how thigh lift surgery can help you.

WHAT THIGH LIFT TREATS

Dr. Bulan performs thigh lift plastic surgery to reshape the thighs. He does this by removing excess skin and fat from the thighs, effecting smoother skin tone and a slimmer contour throughout the treated area. However, thigh lift is not intended for those who simply wish to remove excess fat from the thighs. (This can usually be accomplished with liposuction surgery alone.) Instead, thigh lift is intended for those who have lost skin elasticity in the thigh area, leading to droopy, sagging skin in the region that cannot be corrected with diet and exercise. Thigh lift can be combined with liposuction to enhance the final contour of the thighs when appropriate.

WHAT TO EXPECT DURING THIGH LIFT SURGERY

Dr. Bulan administers anesthesia prior to beginning thigh lift surgery. To begin the procedure, he makes an incision in the targeted area. The incision placement and pattern vary depending on the complexity of your situation and on your aesthetic goals. Some patients may be suitable candidates for smaller incisions, while those with complex aesthetic needs may require more extensive incisions. Although the incisions typically leave scars, Dr. Bulan places them in easily concealed areas when possible.

In general, Dr. Bulan makes an incision that starts at the groin and extends downward and around the back of the thigh. He tightens and reshapes underlying tissue. He next performs liposuction if needed before excising any extra skin. The plastic surgeon then pulls the remaining skin tight and closes the initial incision with sutures.

WHAT TO EXPECT AFTER THIGH LIFT SURGERY

After surgery you will notice that Dr. Bulan has placed bandages on the treated area to help the healing process. He may also have placed thin drainage tubes to help alleviate any fluid accumulation in the area. Similarly, he may have applied an elastic bandage or compression garment to the treated area to decrease swelling and bruising, as well as provide added support while the body heals.

Drainage tubes will be removed a few days after thigh lift surgery, and any sutures that have not dissolved will be removed approximately one week following the procedure. Make sure to wear your compression garment for the amount of time instructed by Dr. Bulan.

If you are experiencing any discomfort or pain in the treated area, you can take oral pain medication as directed by Dr. Bulan to alleviate these sensations. Rest and avoid strenuous activity in the first few days following surgery. Dr. Bulan will let you know when you can gradually resume your normal routines, including your exercise routine. It is very important that you closely adhere to Dr. Bulan’s pre- and post-operative instructions to reduce the risk of complications and enhance your aesthetic results from the procedure.

You will be able to see an immediate improvement in the shape and skin tone of your thighs after surgery. However, the full effect of thigh lift surgery will appear as any swelling and bruising in the treated area subsides.

As long as you stay healthy and do not gain a significant amount of weight, your thigh lift results should be long lasting. Although Dr. Bulan cannot stop the aging process, the new contour of your thighs should be relatively permanent.
