BREAST LIFT SURGERY INITIAL CONSULTATION

Once you have decided that enough is enough and it is time to correct the bothersome problem of flat or drooping breasts, the next step is to take action. Now is the time to schedule a consultation with Dr. Bulan, so you can review your cosmetic breast surgery options.

Dr. Bulan is highly experienced in all types of breast surgery and has helped many women throughout Union, Morris and Essex County, NJ achieve the look they desire. During your consultation, he will use this knowledge to examine your breast profile and individual anatomy and help you decide the best course of action. He will evaluate the size and shape of your breasts, the position of your nipples and areolas, and your skin quality (i.e., skin elasticity).

Once he has performed a thorough medical evaluation, the Northern New Jersey breast lift provider can tell you if you need a simple breast lift or perhaps a combination lift and augmentation procedure. No matter what your aesthetic goals are, Dr. Bulan knows how to achieve them.

HOW IS BREAST LIFT SURGERY PERFORMED?

One of the first decisions that you and Dr. Bulan must make before scheduling your breast lift surgery in Essex County is what type of breast lift approach and corresponding incision method Dr. Bulan should use during your surgical procedure. This decision is based on several factors, including the extent to which your breasts sag, the position of your nipples and whether you are satisfied with the volume of your breasts.

In the most common approach to breast lift surgery, Dr. Bulan makes three incisions. He positions the first incision around the perimeter of the areola (i.e., the more darkly pigmented skin surrounding the nipple). The second incision that the plastic surgeon makes extends vertically from the bottom edge of the areola to the natural crease or fold underneath the breast. Dr. Bulan positions the third incision underneath the breast, where it runs horizontally along the natural curvature of the breast.

Dr. Bulan next removes any excess breast skin before shifting the nipple and areola to a higher position. He can also reduce the size of the areola as needed. The breast surgeon then takes skin that was previously located above the areola and moves it down below the areola, reshaping the breast in the process.

Generally, Dr. Bulan is able to keep the nipple and areola attached to the underlying mounds of tissue to preserve nipple sensation and the ability to nurse. Dr. Bulan may suggest a variation of this breast lift technique, depending on your physique and aesthetic desires. For instance, you may be a suitable candidate for a modified approach which does not call for a horizontal incision beneath the breast, or a minimal incision lift which leaves only a line of closure around the areola. Dr. Bulan will let you know if you are a good candidate for an alternative or modified breast lift method.

BREAST LIFT RISKS AND WHAT TO EXPECT THE DAY OF SURGERY

Essex County Breast lift surgery is typically performed on an outpatient basis, so you will need a responsible adult to drive you to and from the surgical center, as well as stay with you the first night following surgery. During a preoperative appointment, Dr. Bulan will provide thorough instructions regarding the preparation for and recovery from breast lift surgery.

Please note that every surgery has inherent risks. However, Dr. Bulan does everything in his power to minimize these risks, and he will let you know how you can minimize surgical risks as well during the preoperative phase of your procedure. Follow his instructions carefully, and you will help reduce the risk of complications while maximizing the aesthetic benefits of breast lift surgery.

BREAST LIFT RECOVERY AND RESULTS

Breast Lift Ptosis treatment Before and After ImagesYou will typically need to take a week or so off from work to rest at home. Prioritize getting sleep whenever possible and drink plenty of fluids. Have a loved one help you with tasks like preparing food until you feel better. Pain medication should help you to manage discomfort.

In the initial weeks, it is important that you wear a special surgical bra — one with no underwire — to help the breasts maintain their shape. Sleep on your back to avoid putting any pressure on the breasts. Wait a couple months and for Dr. Bulan’s approval before doing any strenuous exercise that may jostle your healing breast incisions.

Swelling and bruising should subside after two months. You can expect to see the appearance of your breasts gradually improve for the first six months, at which point your final results should be complete. Most women will see their results last 10 to 15 years, after which they will need to repeat the procedure to maintain the elevation of the breasts.

BREAST LIFT FAQS

WHAT IS BREAST PTOSIS?

“Breast ptosis” is medical terminology for drooping breasts. It is used to refer to cases where the nipple hangs at or lower than the inframammary fold (the crease where your breast and chest meet). While it is a common condition in women who have aged, breastfed or gained weight, it can successfully be adjusted with breast lift surgery to restore it to a more youthful position on the body.

CAN I COMBINE ANOTHER PROCEDURE WITH BREAST LIFT?

Dr. Bulan commonly performs other breast surgeries in conjunction with breast lift. While elevating the breasts, he can also alter the size of the breasts with either breast augmentation or breast reduction. During the consultation phase, Dr. Bulan will give you an idea of the size of your breasts following breast lift so that you can make an informed decision on whether you would like to add implants or remove more tissue.

Some patients opt to have procedures like tummy tuck or liposuction performed on the same day. Although these procedures treat different parts of the body, the convenience of being able to recover from both surgeries concurrently — meaning less time off work than if they were performed separately — is appealing.

HOW MUCH DOES BREAST LIFT SURGERY COST?

Breast Lift (Mastopexy) in New JerseyThe price of breast lift depends on the type of technique utilized and whether the surgery is combined with another procedure. After examining your breasts and determining the best breast lift strategy, Dr. Bulan will quote a complete price.

WILL THERE BE SCARRING?

Scarring is an inevitable part of breast lift surgery, though the good news is that Dr. Bulan utilizes expert technique to reduce the visibility of these scars. He strategically places the incisions along natural folds where they are easily concealed, and also makes the incision in such a way that they naturally heal better. Most patients ultimately consider any mild scarring to be well worth the overall upgrade of having perkier, younger-looking breasts.
