HOW RHINOPLASTY WORKS

It typically takes Dr. Bulan 1-3 hours to perform nose surgery, depending on your individual nasal structure and the complexity of your situation. Nose reshaping is an outpatient surgery, so you will need a responsible adult to drive you to and from the surgical center.

After administering anesthesia, Dr. Bulan starts nose reshaping surgery by making miniscule incisions in the nasal area. Through the incisions, he accesses the underlying nasal structure, lifting the soft tissues that envelop the nose. The experienced plastic surgeon then reshapes the exposed cartilage and bone, constructing a new nasal profile.

Dr. Bulan can help you achieve a variety of surgical goals, including correcting a deviated septum, reducing the nose or augmenting the nasal structure. If you wish to augment your nose, Dr. Bulan will graft cartilage from the nasal septum or ear onto the nose. OPEN VS. CLOSED APPROACH

There are two main approaches to nose surgery: open and closed. In the open approach, Dr. Bulan makes the incisions on the columella, the medial nostril strip, giving him the best visibility and control during the procedure.

In the closed approach, Dr. Bulan positions the incisions inside the nose. Although this technique reduces the amount of control that the plastic surgeon has during the procedure, it allows for faster healing and less-visible scars. Together, Dr. Bulan and you will decide which approach to use.

WHAT TO EXPECT AFTER NOSE SURGERY

You should expect to take 1-2 weeks off from work, resting and limiting any physical activity during that time.
