a note from bulan plastic surgery about covid-19

Dr. Erwin Bulan and our team at Bulan Plastic Surgery are closely following the development of the Coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak. We are here for you during these unprecedented times, and want to share some information to answer common questions and concerns.

ELECTIVE SURGERIES ARE DELAYED, BUT …

On March 18, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) recommended doctors delay elective surgeries and non-essential procedures. This included plastic surgery procedures and non-surgical cosmetic procedures.

Postponing plastic surgery and non-surgical cosmetic procedures continues to allow health care workers to focus on the needs of urgent cases and preserve precious resources such as masks, gloves and gowns. Also, delaying these surgeries eliminated unnecessary interactions that could cause COVID-19 to be transmitted between patients and/or health care workers.

Dr. Bulan and our team have been committed to doing our part in limiting the spread of COVID-19. Our society has continued to do their part with the #stayathome recommendations our local governments have made. All of these actions have resulted in a plateau in the Coronavirus numbers in our area with a possible beginning of a downward trend. There are early discussions with lifting some of the current restrictions and developing policies for the return of non-urgent surgeries at the hospital level. We at Bulan Plastic Surgery are developing our own policies to provide a safe return to our office, with thoughts of patient safety always at the forefront of any decision as well as continued adherence to social distancing guidelines. In these next few weeks, we look forward to sharing these policies with you!
