how laser skin resurfacing provides dramatic improvements for skin tone and texture

Your facial complexion can be a source of self-confidence and pride or cause frustration and embarrassment. Whether you have deep lines and creases or facial scarring and skin discoloration, laser skin resurfacing can dramatically improve your skin tone and texture. Bulan Plastic Surgery offers laser skin resurfacing in Milburn using advanced technology with the Alma™ laser system.

YOUR LASER SKIN RESURFACING OPTIONS

Dr. Bulan and our team offer skin resurfacing treatments with intense pulsed light (IPL), laser, and radiofrequency energy. Skin resurfacing can improve mild to severe cosmetic concerns, such as wrinkles, surgical scars, uneven skin tone, loose skin, hyperpigmentation, etc. The Alma™ laser platform delivers IPL, laser, and/or RF energy to the underlying skin tissues to trigger the body’s natural healing response for controlled and targeted treatment. The body forms new collagen and tissues in the targeted area for healthier, smoother, younger-looking skin.

HOW LASER SKIN RESURFACING WORKS

Laser skin resurfacing is a quick non-surgical procedure that can provide dramatic results. The most significant results are seen with the Pixel precision laser technology, which creates microscopic holes in the skin cells to improve skin texture and tone and smooth lines and wrinkles. The Pixel CO2 laser system is the gold standard for laser skin resurfacing and is clinically proven to provide age-defying and dramatic improvements.

The heat from the Pixel CO2 laser renews skin elasticity by removing one layer of skin at a time. CO2 lasers address skin concerns with continuous light beams or short pulses of light energy that remove thin layers of skin without significant damage to surrounding tissues. Some patients may start skin treatments up to six weeks before their laser skin resurfacing procedure to prepare the tissues for the laser and minimize complications.

Laser skin resurfacing is an outpatient procedure that may take 30 minutes to two hours. The process starts with cleansing the face and numbing the targeted area with a local anesthetic, and some patients may need a sedative to relax. Extensive laser skin resurfacing for severe skin concerns, such as deep scarring, may require general anesthesia. You’ll likely need to wear protective eyewear during the laser treatment.

When the laser is finished, special dressings are applied to the face. You will receive recovery instructions and directions for changing dressings or topical treatments while the skin heals. Patients report their skin feels sunburnt after laser skin resurfacing with redness, swelling, itching, or stinging. Intense laser treatment may cause the skin to feel or look raw and blister. Over-the-counter or prescription pain medications can keep you comfortable after laser skin resurfacing.
