HOW LASER SKIN RESURFACING WORKS
Laser skin resurfacing is a quick non-surgical procedure that can provide dramatic results. The heat from the Pixel CO2 laser renews skin elasticity by removing one layer of skin at a time. CO2 lasers address skin concerns with continuous light beams or short pulses of light energy that remove thin layers of skin without significant damage to surrounding tissues. Some patients may start skin treatments up to six weeks before their laser skin resurfacing procedure to prepare the tissues for the laser and minimize complications.
Laser skin resurfacing is an outpatient procedure that may take 30 minutes to two hours. The process starts with cleansing the face and numbing the targeted area with a local anesthetic, and some patients may need a sedative to relax. Extensive laser skin resurfacing for severe skin concerns, such as deep scarring, may require general anesthesia. You’ll likely need to wear protective eyewear during the laser treatment.
When the laser is finished, special dressings are applied to the face. You will receive recovery instructions and directions for changing dressings or topical treatments while the skin heals.
